Transform your Food Scraps and Organic Materials into Nutrient-Rich Compost

Trade Tested’s compost bins are here to take your homemade compost pile to the next level. Explore our range of aerobic compost bins, worm farms, and bokashi kits that create the ideal conditions for nutrient-rich compost.

Aerobic compost bins

The classic 453L aerated compost bin features a large lid and snap-lock bottom doors for easy access to your compost. Enjoy the convenience of the 466L Earthmaker, which has a smart three-tier chamber design that ensures newly added waste isn’t mixed with freshly formed compost. The affordable 115L polyethylene compost bin can be moved around without a sweat, thanks to its lightweight material. With a compost tumbler, you can effortlessly let in fresh oxygen essential for the composting process simply by spinning the barrel – meaning less time and manual labour needed.

Vermicompost bins

The Hungry Bin Worm Farm uses compost worms to do the hard work for you. It’s designed for ultra-fast composting efficiency and can turn up to 2kg of organic waste into fantastic fertiliser daily. Compost worms are not included.

Bokashi kits

Interested in trying something different? Get a Zing bokashi kit! Unlike regular composting, which decomposes waste, bokashi uses specialised bacteria to ferment waste. The result is a super-effective soil amendment that adds vital nutrients to your garden beds.

How to use a compost bin for beginners

To use a compost maker, simply fill it with alternating layers of ‘green’ and ‘brown’ waste. Greens refer to nitrogen-rich waste, such as vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, and garden clippings, while browns refer to carbon-rich waste, such as paper, cardboard, and dead leaves. Always have a brown layer on top to reduce odours and retain moisture. Turn the contents regularly to let in air. Over 6-8 months, you should have some great compost full of nutrients at the bottom of the bin.

How to choose the best compost bin for your needs

Looking for convenience? Our worm bins provide an efficient way to cultivate your own worm farm so you can enjoy quick composting without much work. If worms aren’t for you, choose a tumbling compost bin, which makes it quick and easy to let in the oxygen necessary for aerobic composting. Our Earthmaker and aerobic compost bin models provide heaps of space for the serious gardener. They feature efficient designs that let you add food scraps and cardboard from the top while offering easy access to nutrient-rich compost from below. On a budget or have limited ground space? Our 115L polyethylene compost bin is the perfect option.
