What is the coolant tray for and how does it work/what coolant?

Where required you can add water to the tray and recurrently dunk the workpiece to keep it from getting hot enough to lose its temper, burn the operator's hand, or both.

No the grinder doesn't come with the blade sharpening kit, we have removed it from the image to avoid confusion.

No Makita do not make these. However it's a universal fitting and you can get them from any good hardware store.

I bought this small bench grinder to sharpen chisels etc and it does this perfectly. Light enough to pack away afterwards, but stable on the bench. Pleasantly quiet to use. A good buy!

Was brought for our sons birthday.As he was always coming around and using hid Dads grinder. He is now using this at his house and said he loves it and is better and easier to use than his dad's one. Also having the magnifying glass is very helpful for better close up viewing. Best present ever.

A good quality grinder

Apart from the magnifying lens in the guard, this is a great grinder. My personal feeling is the magnifier is not useful and is distracting so it will be replaced with a standard one. The grinder is very quiet and well balanced. The built in lights are a great feature, more so if you have a dark shed. A nice machine that will make a great addition to any workshop
