Newman Digital Inverter Generator 4200W Remote Start

We bought this for powering a tiny home in the event of power failure. Started first time, runs well, simple, easy to use. Seems like a good product.

I've had this unit for 5 weeks now as the cornerstone of my emergency kit. It performs as advertised and starts immediately every two weeks for a 20 minute run as per the maintenance instructions. The User Manual lets the product down. It seriously needs updating as the pictures reflect an earlier model quite different than the one supplied. Clearer pictures would also be an advantage. I have a mechanical and technical background and could deduce from what I saw to be able to prepare the generator for use. The current manual assumes a level of knowledge that many potential users do not have. I would also suggest the manual be upgraded with more information about using the unit; especially in an emergency. Users seriously don't need to be struggling with the manual by torchlight when they are in an emergency situation. Revision of the manual would enhance the ownership experience of a fine unit.

Have now bought 2 of these as emergency back up generators for us and family. They are easy to set up and operate with nice instruction on the unit for anyone being thrown in to use it in emergency. Easy remote start and stop system works really well. My daughter used it for a couple of months as a regular back up for their full house off-grid solar system while their diesel genset was out of action, and it served that more regular duty well. With electric / remote start, pure sine wave output, good capacity and great value is its way better than the previous 2kW manual start units we have used in past and not much higher cost. Just really need 2 people to lift into a vehicle.

I am thrilled with my purchase. It is an excellent addition to my power options in our remote location. Our main source is a 6kW microhydro generator. I also have a 10kW PTO generator, a 10kW diesel genset, an ancient 3kW diesel generator, and a cheap 5kW multifuel genset. An issue I have had with all these systems is that the power has been “dirty”, and electronic tools and appliances don’t like it. E.g., my Dremel won’t work properly with the hydro power, so I have had to use a deep-cycle battery and a pure sine wave inverter to run it. But the new Newman is awesome! Quiet, compact, and clean power. The remote start is so convenient and fun to use too! And truly portable. I will be using it as stand-alone power for power tools (band saw, planer, router, thicknesser, etc.) in my workshop. Plus it will be able to quickly fill in when the hydro needs to be turned off at night due to lack of water. The only suggestion that I have is that it should have larger diameter wheels and more ground clearance. It is fine for flat surfaces, but over grass, gravel or especially a wood-chip floor, it drags badly over the surface.

Great little unit. Starts first time on all modes; remote, switch, recoil. Pretty quite for its size.

Have used this generator for 3 days so far during extended power cuts and very impressed. No more repeated pulling on a start cord - one press of the start button and it is away. Good generous output. Easy to shift around with wheels.

Easy to set up, not overly noisy and the wheels/compactness make it convenient to move around. Good value given the various features included which are normally found only on more expensive generators.

I was a little wary because I have always bought Honda motors. But the price and warranty sold me. I am so pleased. I depend on this generator every day and it has been flawless. One annoyance: it doesn’t have a fuel gauge. Rodney

it is a very good for what i use it for

Got this after cyclone Gabrielle and living rural, I have used this generator for many hours to power fridges, broadband and even my tv and home theatre system (at separate times) during a prolonged outage. Great unit that doesn't fry computers. Never has issues starting and fires up quickly. It has a remote start feature with an included remote and a pullstart and battery start options also, It has 2x 230v outlets as well as a cigarette lighter-type 12v socket. The only issue is I wish there was a fuel level gauge but apart from that it's a perfect home generator for much less cost than some of the main brands with heaps of features and is well built.. Make sure you get some 10w-30 oil as it doesn't come with any.
