Do you sell an ambient light sensor for automatic on/off?

Yes, we do. The "Outdoor Light Smart Dimmer and Timer" we also sell has a Auto ON at dusk and OFF at dawn setting. You can find it in the Frequently bought together section

Can you leave these set to constant mode so that it always comes on first when you turn them on (ie so you don't haver to always scroll through flashing mode)?

This only has one setting, which is staying on constantly, there is no flashing mode for this model.

How would you rate their aesthetic suitability as indoor mood lighting, in conjunction with the dimmer?

Well the cord would stand out unless you could hide it - so rustic but charming! Perhaps in conjunction with some Barry White to set the mood?

The Lamps themselves are 230v and they do not have a separate power supply

How many watts and amps for the whole string (15 meters) when in use? (Plan to run it on solar.)
A:
Each bulb is 4W, so the total wattage is 96W over the 24 bulbs. The lights plug into a regular wall outlet, and takes 10A.

Plug to first bulb spacing is 25cm.

Q:
What is the length of the section with bulbs on (lit length) and what measurement is either end of just cable? If you join 2 together will the join be both those measurements of is there a connecter part way down the plug end?
A:
Plug to first bulb spacing is 25cm on each end. These are supplied with a "male plug" on one end and a "female" on the other so you connect them just like an extension cable.

A touch of brilliance!

We love our festoon lights! They were easy to drape across our back yard. Easy lighting for when we're entertaining and at night I light them to keep the tom cats away from my chickens, bunnies and the guinea pig. We wholeheartedly recommend this product!

Solid product

Nice thick cables and robust feeling bulb holders. I had one bulb fail out of box, but there were three spares included, so no worries. Colour temperature is nice outside on our deck. Purchased the dimmer/remote package too. On/off and dim functions work really well (quick response to remote commands, even through walls etc) Wifi is tricky, and I have been unsuccessful so far
