Q:
Hi, I got a deck with 2.8m width and length is more than 5m. Will this Fit? Considering base plates etc.
A:
Yes, but it will be close so please double-check your measurements. On the short side, the Canopy frame poles are 2720mm wide including the base plates (the base plates sit inside the poles), the Assembly manual has some great measurements and get in touch if you want a copy before you purchase or any further info

Q:
Hi what size and type of bolts do you recommend for installing this into a deck? The included expansion bolts are for concrete. Thank you.
A:
The base plate holes will fit a size of M8. It would be best to talk to a builder/handyperson to get the correct timber mounting advice

Q:
Hi - we want to secure the pergola, but half would need to be on a concrete slab and the other half on a pathway, the pathway is 8cm below the concrete slab - so two legs will be in the concrete slab and the other two legs would be on the pathway which is 8cm down (the pergola would then be sloping). Would this be an issue when bolting to the ground on the concrete slab and the pathway?
A:
We recommend this is only attached to a solid and flat surface

Q:
Hi,can you tell me the dimension from centre of post to centre of post. I'm looking to fix to a concrete pad thats just about 4m wide so want to make sure the base plates will fit on the pad. Cheers
A:
Centre to centre would be - W 3630mm x D 2630mm. Feel free to get in contact with our sales team on 0800 800 880 or [email protected] and we'll be happy to send you the assembly manual.

Q:
Hi there. The dimensions say 395x300, is that measurement to the widest point ie the angled bits of the rafters? Or to the outside of the posts? Could you please clarify what each of those dimensions are as we have quite a tight space. Thanks so much
A:
This is the overall size, so to the widest points.

Q:
Hi, do you have side curtains for the pergola? A clear PVC side curtain that can be retracted when not required would be great.
A:
We don't have curtains specifically for this product, however our Outdoor Patio Blinds should do the trick. You can find them in the 'Awnings & Pergolas' category.

Q:
I live in a very high wind zone. Is this pergola suitable for that environment?
A:
As long as this is securely fastened to the ground (ideally bolted to concrete) then yes this can stand up to high winds but the awning must be stored in the retracted position when not in use.

Q:
Hi - I’m really interested in the pergola but I’m not tall and I can’t see how the canopy is moved to retract and open. And secured when it is where it’s wanted. Do you have to get up to the top to to do this ? Do you have photos to show this please ? Many thanks ! Frances
A:
There is a pulley and cable system that ties off on the post, so you can keep your feet firmly on the ground.

Q:
The depth of my patio is less than 3M (approx. 2.75M or less). Would I be able to cut the rafters to size to suit?
A:
Yes you can.

Freestanding 3m x 4m Pergola

What a difference this has made to our courtyard. Reasonably easy to assemble would recommend this product to anybody wanting an elegant shaded space without those pesky umbrellas. Oh and by the way Tradetested were excellent to deal with and prompt delivery.

Retractable pergola

Quick and easy to put up in an afternoon with a couple of people helping - a great shelter and gives excellent coverage and shade. Can be a bit creaky with wind

Freestanding Pergola

Nice little pergola and having the canopy to slide back and forth is great. Unfortunately the canopy doesn't slide easily and gets stuck alot which is annoying. The cover that is meant to stop rain collecting when cover isn't out doesn't stay on well, a little wind and its blown off. We left the canopy opened over night and it rained and unfortunately the canopy filled with water and it actually broke the frame from the weight of the water, and we had to get a replacement frame piece! Disappointing but it is better than no cover and great to sit in the garden in the shade. Think we have just been unlucky with it!

Pergola

Is not suitable for windy locations even with canopy withdrawn. Structured would bend in the wind so have added corner bracket to add strength.

We LOVE it!

We finally got to put this up at our rental and it is perfect. It was relatively straightforward to put up despite what many have found - but we did have a helpful construction minded person help us and this made it much easier I imagine. We also put it up before bolting it down so did it slightly differently than the instructions. The frame is lightweight but sturdy. It is easy to use and does the job perfectly. We did shift the cover over slightly to reduce rain collecting as it seemed to be in the wrong spot but that's all. We LOVE it!

Awesome!

Love it! Works perfect for windy areas where you can't have a fixed roof. Instructions inside box are just pictures so definitely ask for the pdf emailed version from TT before trying.

Looks great once installed, But...

Printed instructions for installation was very poor quality. I had Trade Tested email me a version which was lot better. But, some flaws in the instructions and hardware supplied. The dyna bolts supplied is only any good if you are installing onto a concrete bed. If installing on a timber deck you would need different hardware. Check with your local DIY store for the best options. The footing measurements provided on page 1 was for a square pergola and not for the rectangular 3.0 X 4.0 m pergola. Once installed, make sure you always have the pergola roof canvas collapsed and only pull it out when in use. If not it will collect water when there is unexpected rain and the weight of water pooling on the canvas will make the roof fittings give way / break. The description of roof canvas attachments for the Center beam D is not correct. The center beam comes with the attachments already fitted. Overall, installation is not difficult, just need to be patient and work through each step carefully.
