Construction Points:
A good foundation is the key to guaranteeing the longevity and quality of your cabin. Only a completely level, rectangular foundation and bearers will ensure problem-free installation of the cabin.
The floor must be a minimum of 50mm off the ground, preferably more. The underside of the floorboards and the joists should be painted thoroughly and care taken to ensure enough airflow under the house. We recommend using Malthoid DPC between joists and the ground.
If unsure consult with, or have the foundation prepared by a specialist.

Some very good things and some not so good. Went together very well, although we were lucky to have an experienced builder to help. The instructions were not great but we did not have access to the internet so could not get any better. The supplied window stays were already corroding. The rest of the hardware is not the greatest and will be replaced as well, the door lock failed and has been replaced. Our biggest complaint would be the roof, or lack of. When purchasing the cabin, I expressed concern that the material supplied did not look very permanent. This has proven to be the case with water coming through the roof and ruining bedding we had inside. We are putting a steel roof on. I feel TT could perhaps suggest to people the supplied material is temporary and offer a steel roof as an added extra. Overall, still happy with the cabin and the grandkids love it!!
We purchased the kit in mid-2022, but due to flooding and road closures, we didn’t start on the project till December 2022. The package sat on top of a container in our yard till then, and apart from a minor bit of bleaching on a few pieces, unwrapped perfectly. After reading previous reviews about the vague instructions, we researched and found better ones and how-to videos online and would recommend other buyers do the same. We chose to put it on a slab, but if we built another, we would use piles. The actual building was very fast, a day to get the bulk of it up, and then another short one to do the roof. Once we had all the pieces laid out and ID-ed, it was like Lego to put up, and our kids were right into it. A decent team of workers is definitely a must; it would be harder with just 1 or 2 people, no matter how much building experience you have. We gave it a few weeks to settle and then added a colour steel roof. You could maybe get away without one in an urban setting, but it was a must-have addition for our location. We also added insulation to the roof and floor, and we added the deck. The door and window hardware is not great, but was easily replaced. We would also recommend installing door stops early on as this design has the door handles hitting the windows without them. Overall, it was an awesome family project, and we now have a great sleepout that easily fits a Queen bed and bunks with heaps of room to spare.
No problems with assembling the cabin. Important to provide a solid base. In my case 10 piles (down 800mm) and two 150 x 50 bearers and extra 150 x 50 joists. Only problem was the bitumen felt which I installed to provide temporary roof cover until I can install and iron roof. Despite significant overlapping of sheets and 500 tacks the roof leaked badly in the recent storm ( high winds forced water up under the overlaps).
I really like this cabin, and I highly recommend it. This cabin is really easy to install. I did most of the work. My neighbor helped me make the base and roof. The cabin base is supported by 20 big posts and 15 cm to 50cm high to ground. I made a steel roof, flashing and gutter for this cabin, just in case of the heavy rain in Auckland. It is a very wonderful little room for an office or kids playroom.
There’s no roof finished materials. Otherwise, it’s great.
I can highly recommend these cabins, Great project for me to do! Took about 4 solid days to put together myself (excluding the platform), and I still need to get it painted/stained - when it stops raining! I ended up buying a nail gun to put the floor in, if I had my time again, I would have also used it for the roof as that seemed to take the longest during the install. This cabin has made a great office and am warm as toast in here on a 12 degree day.
Everything was going well until I got to installing the roof joists. The parts were supplied cut to the wrong length If you buy this product not only check the parts but measure before you start.
Only thing I’ve built is a tin shed but this has been really fun. The instructions are minimalist but it’s straight forward. I used sleepers on gravel as a foundation- cheap and adjustable. Clamps or soaking helps deal with warped beams. Still got doors and floor to do but done entirely solo- 3 full days so far.
Excellent value cabin. Everything went like clockwork from delivery to assembly, which we did ourselves and took 2men 2days. We placed it on a wooden platform rather than a concrete slab. Only comment is the door head is a little low, tall people need to duck.
The Lisa is a good size, attractive and well priced product but be warned - the instructions are not very clear. Furthermore some of the planks were so warped on arrival that we had to cut them and then grout the cuts to make it fit. It was a real headache and over all took longer than expected to erect - excluding site prep be closer to 3 days than 2. I would recommend this to a friend IF they have a reasonable amount of building skills - which fortunately my friend did.
