Debated on the 40V as I already had 2 x 40V batteries for my self-propelled lawnmower and leaf blower, but I needed something a bit bigger with a tad more grunt, and for only $90 more, was a no brainer buying this one and I'm pleased I did. Zapped through what I needed done and charging battery 30 minutes later, was away on another mission. Only downside is the silly shoulder strap which really does nothing to help.
After my petrol one died I was on the hunt for a line trimmer that was affordable and had plenty of power. I ended up ordering this one. I tried the machine for the first time today and was well impressed . We have a large area to trim. Some of the grass was quite long. The machine had no trouble what so ever. It made minced meat out of the grass and weeds. Bump feeding worked well. It's quiet. I would say it was on par with my old petrol if not better. 2aH battery did the whole yard. It was so much better compared to a friend 36v Makita where It went through 2 x 5h batteries plus a bit on the second lot of batteries. A friend aeg 36v also had the same problem as the Makita. Batteries didn't last long and was underpowered. It's worth getting this 80v trimmer
