What powers the automatic vent opener?
A:
It acts like a thermostat, the piston contains a mineral wax that expands when heated, opening the window. As the temperature drops this contracts and, with the help of the spring, closes the window.

Instructions are not very good. Can not find anywhere how to stop them from opening if required, Seems like a good idea. Got 2 of them, only been on for 4 days so will see how they handle weather over time. Got them on with no problems.

Initially ordered two for my 10' x 8' Greenhouse. They work a treat so I ordered a third - leaving one window to be manually operated. The third one came without the fixing screws and pins. Fortunately the initial order had extras. Recommend these for sure.
